I'm a little late in yesterday's Sweet on a Cure update, but rest assured, I did eat dessert!  Twice, in fact. I was off work for Veterans day, so I spent the day with my daughters.  We started out with a trip to Culinard Café for some white chocolate blueberry cookies*.  I've been a fan of these cookies ever since Bob Carlton wrote about them during last year's Sweet on a Cure benefit.

We're not sure they should call them cookies, though. Roughly the size of a Mini Cooper hub cap and chock full of blueberries and white chocolate chunks, they could almost pass for a small cake. So we encourage you to share with a friend.

It sounded weird to me at first, but these things are seriously awesome.  They're baked fresh daily and are available for $1.85 each. After plenty of play-time at Railroad Park and McWane Science Center, we headed for lunch, choosing Rojo since I'd recently recommended it as one of Birmingham's kid-friendly local restaurants.

Rojo's Sweet on a Cure dessert offering is their chango (which is not pronounced like "presto chango").  The chango is basically a chimichanga cheesecake -- a flour tortilla wrapped around cheesecake filling, then deep fried.  It's topped with dollops of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and (optionally) a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  I'm pretty sure it's what God intended for tortillas when He invented them.

The chango at Rojo will run you $3.95, or $1 more if you want to add ice cream.  It's big enough to share, but lucky for me, the girls had already filled up on lunch, so all they wanted was the ice cream. 100% of the money from all Sweet on a Cure desserts this week goes to benefit UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
